Education and training

Neil has been involved in the world of education and training for over twenty five years, having been a practice teacher, training officer, lecturer, professor and independent trainer. In 2011 he became a director of the Grove International Management School. He has a passion for helping people learn and is therefore strongly committed to the importance and value of workplace learning.

Neil is a qualified training officer (Local Government Management Board Certificate in Training and Development) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and was the founding editor of the British Journal of Occupational Learning.

Neil was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts on the basis of his contribution to organisational learning. Indeed, learning is a key part of Neil’s work, whether in a direct education and training role, through his consultancy work or through his publications.

Neil has extensive experience of teaching and training across a broad range of subjects in the fields of human services and human relations, with a particular emphasis on the following areas:

• Neil has worked with a broad range of people – from basic grade practitioners to senior managers at board level across the public, voluntary and commercial sectors. He has worked as a coach and mentor at a one-to-one level, as well as providing training courses and seminars for small and large groups. His in-depth knowledge, sensitivity, skill and relaxed approach, combined with his emphasis on blending theory and practice, make him a well-respected teacher and trainer.

Neil is a very experienced and sought-after conference speaker. He has contributed to conferences in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, the Czech Republic, Norway, the Netherlands, Canada, Hong Kong, India, the United States and Australia.
